A very hectic year full of beautiful clients, fabulous models & brands, sold out events & speaking engagements...
In January, I was pleased to be invited back to the London Photography Convention again - this time giving two talks - Beyond Beauty and Timeless Glamour. I also was awarded two rosettes for my two images in the print competition. It is always great to spend time in London where I caught a few exhibitions as well as the convention itself.
In February, I was delighted to be named Portrait Photographer of the Year with the Guild of Photographers. I was most definitely a pinch-me moment. I have worked hard this past decade to continually improve my work and this was the pinnacle. (I was also runner up in Classical Portrait of the Year).
In March it was back to The Photography Show, this time held at Excel in London. Doing 8 live demonstrations to show audiences on the Essential Photo & Video stand.
May and June, I taught more Art of Boudoir workshops in London and Manchester with the lovely model Meg.
I continue to offer private 1-2-1's in the studio or virtually if you are based further afield. It has been great to provide training to photographers in UK, US and UAE this year!
June was the Wales & West Photography Show where I shared the stories behind my lens and the tips and tricks to truly connect with your subject. It was standing room only with a lovely, engaged audience.
Events and training for Photography Session Days continue to be busy. ... 21 sold out events this year including 3 full days in Co Cork where we were welcomed with open arms. Our first international workshops and a great success! It has been a superb year for workshops and we are eternally grateful for our incredibly supportive photographers! We also enjoyed running a busy pod at the Click Conference in Milton Keynes too.
In September, I was excited to hear that one of my images had been nominated for the British Photography Awards. My first time in this competition and a huge honour.
In October, I got involved with the AIBP (Association of International Boudoir Photographers) were I was honoured to be asked to give a webinar on posing and to be a guest judge on their annual Visionary Awards.
In addition to my workshops and talks, I continue to shoot in the studio with private clients every week. My clients continue to travel from all over the work - the furthest this year coming from Colombia!
Podcasts that I have had the pleasure to be a guest on included Camera Centre, Camversation and Camera Shake.
On a personal note, I don't think I've ever been so close to burnout as I have this year. Plans for some projects got pushed to 2026 simply because there were not enough days in the week! Discovering that one of my daughters is Autistic/ADHD with very complex needs has been stressful to say the least and has essentially been a full time job in itself (parents with neurodivergent children will understand the pain, pressure and demands). Juggling 2 teenagers, a dog and 3 businesses certainly keeps me on my toes! I have tried to prioritise self care - taking up yoga, pilates, sound bath, acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Let's hope next year is calmer!
Along with photography, travel is my biggest passion in life.
I have been very fortunate this year to travel - Costa Rica, Atlanta, Japan, China, Singapore and Seychelles (not to mention Wales & Ireland!) and this is when I am most in the moment. I love experiencing new cultures.
2025 looks set to be a great year:
I have been asked to speak at both Imaging USA in Nashville in January and Shutterfest in St Louis in April!
