Guild of Photographers Awards Evening

What a whirlwind of a weekend!

This weekend, I attended the glitzy Guild of Photographers Awards Evening at the Hilton DoubleTree in Stoke-on-Trent. Not only is it the perfect opportunity to get glammed up but it is always such an inspiring evening attended by some of the best photographers in the country. I was very honoured to be nominated in a few categories. and have my work printed in the book Photographer of the Year 2022 Finalists.

Founder's Cup

Processed with MOLDIV The brief was to create a print panel of 3 images that were cohesive or told a story. This is my panel: A Love Lost. Many thanks to my wonderful models Cherie Bebe and G Brodie for bringing the concept to life and for stepping in last minute to help me. I was very pleased to be in the Top 10 National Finalists for the Founder's Cup for the second year running.

Image of the Year: Classical Portraiture

Belle Privé Photography StudioBelle Privé Photography Studio I was also honoured to be a Top 10 Finalist for Image of the Year in the Classical Portraiture category with my image of the fabulous Ivory Flame Model. This is my 3rd time in the finals and each time I am beyond shocked to be included amongst such incredible photographers.

The Photographer's Bar

The Photographer's Bar is awarded for consistency throughout the year. At the beginning of 2022, I decided to push my skills and enter more competitions. In past years, I had entered once or twice a year just to test my standard against others. This time, I wanted the challenge of having to produce award winning images every single month which was a feat much more demanding (and stressful and time consuming) than I had first thought. Anyway, I did it and now have this prestigious lifelong distinction.

International Photographer of the Year 2022 Finalist

The absolute highlight of the evening though and one I did not see coming... so much so, I had taken my shoes off... was being named in the Top 10 International Photographers of the Year!! I was absolutely blown away, shocked, a little emotional -  did I actually hear my name called to the stage? It is an accolade I never dared dream of and one that makes me very proud. I started in photography just to be able to better document my daughters' lives when they were little. My passion and drive grew year on year and those that have met me, know that I literally eat, sleep and breathe photography. It's truly a passion, not just a vocation and I genuinely believe I am only just getting started....
