Lingerie Care

If like me, you love your lingerie, how do you care for it? Whilst your day to day cotton basics can be thrown in the washing machine, how do you really look after your more delicate pieces? Beautiful lingerie can be an investment of hundreds of pounds so we want it to last as long as possible...

There's a lot to consider with today's lingerie...lace, embroidery, buckles.... Here is the lingerie lowdown.

Washing

Yes, we all hate hand washing but needs must with your more delicate satin and lace lingerie!

Fill a basin with warm water and add a teaspoon of detergent, ideally a lingerie wash such as The Laundress, to help protect the lycra

Of course, always separate your darks from your lights.

Pre treat any stains with the same detergent

Gently wash your garments by massaging

Rinse in fresh, lukewarm water. Do not wring!

Lay your items flat to dry away from direct sunlight.

Cotton can be washed in the washing machine at 30C, but using a lingerie bag can help to prevent problems with the under wiring.

Always hook the back of your bra together to prevent it from catching on something else in the washing machine

If you have to tumble dry, use a low setting. The tumble dryer can misshape your garments.

Storing

Non moulded cups can be folded in half and stored in a drawer.

Moulded cups are best hung in a wardrobe to prevent denting

Even better, keep each lingerie set together in a box or satin bag

Don't leave your most beautiful lingerie in storage though, book a photoshoot and let's showcase you looking your absolute best!
